PkZ Series

The PkZ® 2.8mm allows designers to incorporate 0.010" radial and up to 0.150" axial misalignment tolerance in applications where traditional spring loaded high force blind mate contacts would have been used.

The PkZ® 2.8mm, rated to 5 amps DC, is Phoenix's single circuit version of the innovative PkZ® blind mate. The misalignment tolerance of the PkZ® 2.8mm is coupled with performance to 20 GHz. This 50 ohm interconnect is rated at 500 mating cycles and is ideal for communication, instrumentation and medical electronics, along with cable-to-0cable and cable-to-printed circuit board applications.

For difficult blind mate applications, the PKZ® allows a 0.090" longitudinal mating tolerance with no degradation in performance. As long as the contacts are engaged, the amount of engagement is no longer critical to electrical performance.

The PkZ® 26 Series eliminates the need for coincident reference planes by achieving a 50 ohm line at the instant the outer & inner conductors contact the mating connector. The design of the PkZ® 26 Series allows it to be scaled up in diameter for ruggedness and high power capabilities, or down in diameter for miniaturisation and to extend its frequency range. Low insertion force and no internal springs allow high performance and reliability from DC to 32 GHz.

These 50 ohm contacts are designed for use with D-Subminiature, DIN and HDI connector housings and are available for flexible and semi rigid cables. The PkZ® 56 Series allow for a "Z2 axis mating tolerance of up to 0.070" without compromising electrical performance (constant impedance is maintained).

It is constructed from a nylon material and is specifically manufactured to withstand high voltage environments operating up to 2,8000 volts. It is available in a solder termination only, in either a straight or right angle configuration and will accommodate 20 gauge wire.

Phoenix Double Crimp Size 8 Contacts are offered in standard 50 & 75 ohm versions, as solderless, cost effective alternatives for high volume manufacturing needs.

The Double Crimp Contact design consists of a one-piece body, a separate snap fit, centre contact and an outer ferrule. Both centre contact and outer ferrule can be terminated with a high speed crimping operation or conventional hand-held tool. The Double Crimp Contacts can be mated to "industry standard" equivalent D-Subminiature coaxial contact varieties.

The standard PDM 15 Series is used in applications with a frequency range of 950 MHz or below. They are available in straight or right angle configurations for both cable and printed circuit mount applications.

Cable terminations include solder, crimp and double crimp for flexible, semi-rigid and conformable cable types. A non-magnetic contact is also available with a residual magnetism of less than 20 Gamma. The PDM 15 series contact can be used in several standard housings, such as D-Subminiature, and in some instances, can be easily adapted for use in other housings such as the MIL-C-81659 rack and panel series or the MIL-C-38999 cylindrical connector.

PDM 15 Series High Voltage

The PDM 16 Series Coaxial Contact was designed to better meet the impedance needs of computer and video applications. Operating at 75 ohms, the frequency range of the PDM 16 Series Contact is DC to 2000MHz.

It also has the advantage that it can be mated with the standard PDM 15 Series Contact. It is available in straight or right angle configurations, in either a solder, crimp, or double crimp (solderless) termination for RG179 cable and is commonly used in conjunction with Phoenix's D-Subminiature combination housing.

The PDM 24 Series, 50 ohm Coaxial Contact offers improved electrical performance by matching typical RF systems characteristic impedance and exhibiting a lower return loss.

The PDM 24 Series can be used to 1500 MHz while maintaining a matched impedance of 50 ohms. They are available in straight and right angle configurations for both cable and printed circuit mount applications. Cable terminations include solder, crimp, and double crimp 9solderless) for flexible, semi-rigid and conformable cable types and they are commonly used in conjunction with Phoenix's D-Subminiature combination housing. PDM 24 Series

Phoenix offers a printed circuit mount, stamped and formed coaxial contact for use with Phoenix's combination D-Subminiature connectors. These parts are available with a nominal impedance of 50 or 75 ohms and a frequency range of DC to 2 GHz.

The Stamped & Formed Contact offers the high volume user a lower price and a quicker turnaround which makes the stamped and formed contact a good alternative to a machined contact. Key applications include computer workstations, cellular radio and video applications.
